Join Monday’s (May 22) national HoUSed campaign call from 2:30 to 4:00 pm ET. NLIHC’s Diane Yentel will be joined by Peggy Bailey with the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) and Ann Oliva with the National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) for a conversation on the urgent threats to affordable housing and homelessness assistance funding posed by the ongoing fight over the nation’s debt ceiling. Siobhan Kelly with the Office of Multifamily Analytics and Policy at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) will join the call to share an upcoming opportunity to weigh-in with FHFA on tenant protections needed in FHFA-financed properties. Amanda Jack with the Legal Aid Society of New York will share a recent letter from New York City’s public defenders responding to Mayor Eric Adams’ comment calling for increased criminalization and forced hospitalization of people experiencing homelessness. We will receive field updates; share the latest updates from Capitol Hill on the ongoing fight to raise the federal debt ceiling; and discuss ways advocates can take action on the importance of increased federal investments in affordable housing and homelessness assistance.
